Your role as a care partner
‘I am a proud care partner, but I need to remember to take care of myself, too!’
Caring for someone with heart failure
Being a care partner is a selfless, generous thing to do. You are making a difference in someone’s life every day. That’s what life is all about.
Living with heart failure can be challenging, both physically and mentally. Many people with heart failure often can’t handle all the tasks they once could. They also have to change their lifestyles. If you live with or care for someone with heart failure, you can play an important supportive role in helping them succeed with managing their heart failure.
Being a care partner can have its own challenges
As you might know, taking care of someone with heart failure is a long-term commitment that may take up a lot of your time and energy. That’s why it’s important that you take care of yourself! The good news is that you are not alone. There are many support groups and resources for care partners online and in your community.
You can use the resources in this section to help you get started.
As a caregiver for my mother with heart failure and being with her on her journey, I am motivated to do whatever it takes to retain the quality of life, the highest quality of life, to allow the individual to retain as much meaning in their life.”
